This is a synthetic peptide designed for use in combination with anti-SOD2 antibody (Catalog #: ARP58529_P050). It may block above mentioned antibody from binding to its target protein in western blot and/or immunohistochecmistry under proper experimental settings. There is no guarantee for its use in other applications.
SOD2 is a member of the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. SOD2 is a mitochondrial protein that forms a homotetramer and binds one manganese ion per subunit. This protein binds to the superoxide byproducts of oxidative phosphorylation and converts them to hydrogen peroxide and diatomic oxygen. Mutations in this gene encoding SOD2 have been associated with idiopathic cardiomyopathy (IDC), premature aging, sporadic motor neuron disease, and cancer. This gene is a member of the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.
