SMARCAL1 / HARP (SWI/SNF-related matrix-associated actin-dependent regulator of chromatin subfamily A-like protein 1, HepA-related protein, DNA-dependent ATPase A) is a member of the SWI / SNF family of ATPases and chromatin remodeling proteins. Unlike other SWI / SNF family members, SMARCAL1 / HARP has not been shown to remodel chromatin, but possesses an ATP-dependent annealing helicase activity. SMARCAL1 reanneals single-stranded DNA bubbles in DNA at DNA replication forks that are bound by Replication Protein A (RPA). Defects in SMARCAL1 / HARP are a cause of Schimke immuno-osseous dysplasia (SIOD) SIOD causes spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia (a disorder of bone growth that results in short stature, skeletal abnormalities, and problems with vision and hearing), renal dysfunction and T-cell immunodeficiency. SMARCAL1 / HARP antibody (mAb) (Clone 4B10) was raised in a Mouse host. It has been validated for use in Immunoprecipitation and Western blot, it has been shown to react with Bovine, Human and Mouse samples.
