Antiserum will specifically react with a 130 kDa Rb2 protein from Human, Rat and Mouse tissue. No reaction was observed against other related tumor supressor proteins. Cross reactivity with Rb2 (p130) from other species may also occur.

P130/pRb2, p107 and Rb together make up the Rb family of cell cycle regulatory proteins. As a family of proteins, the different members share several structural and functional features which include two distinct "pocket domains", interaction with viral gene products, interaction with members of the E2F family of proteins and changes in phosphorylation states leading to modulation of activity and cell cycle expression. The p130 protein is ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in terminally differentiated cells where it presumably functions to maintain the cells in a G0 state and as such has been used as a marker for G0. Depending on position within the cell cycle, p130 can exist in 4 different forms as a function of phosphorylation with Form 0 being the unphosphorylated form and the other three forms being referred to as Forms 1-3 correlating with increasing degrees of phosphorylation. Changes in levels of p130 expression have been reported in several cancers including endometrial, small cell lung, and neuroblastoma.Synonyms: 130 kDa retinoblastoma-associated protein, RB2, RBR-2, Retinoblastoma-like protein 2, Retinoblastoma-related protein 2, p130, pRb2
