Hintergrund
- Lactate dehydrogenase A, also known as LDHA, is found predominantly in muscle tissue and belongs to the lactate dehydrogenase family. It is encoded by the LDHA gene which contains 7 exons and spans about 12 kb . It catalyzes the conversion of L-lactate and NAD+ to pyruvate and NADH in the final step of anaerobic glycolysis. Mutations in LDHA have been linked to exertional myoglobinuria.
