Since active FAK is highly phosphorylated, position of FAK band on westernblotting may varry with its phosphorylation level.

Hintergrund: FAK (focal adhesion kinase) is a protein tyrosine kinase which colocalizes with integrin receptors at cell-substratum contact sites (focal adhesions). It is thought that enhanced tyrosine phosphorylation of FAK is important for integrin mediated signaling as well as for other signalings. FAK associates with a number of proteins such as Src, Shc, PI-3 kinase, Grb2, Cas, Cas-L, paxilin and transmamblane proteins, which enables FAK to couple to a variety of different intracellular transduction pathways in adherent and non-adherent cells.
