Hintergrund
- Solute Carrier Family 1 Member 5 (Slc1a5/ASCT2) belongs to a family of sodium dependent amino acid transporters. Slc1a5 has a preference for transporting zwitter ions. Slc1a5 also functions as a cell surface receptor for endogenously inherited retroviruses of cats, baboons and humans as well as for horizontally transmitted type-D simian retroviruses. In addition, it has been associated with increased metabolism in malignant tumors. In prostate carcinoma ASCT2 positivity is correlated with more aggressive biological behavior.Synonyms: ASCT2, ATB(0), Baboon M7 virus receptor, M7V1, Neutral amino acid transporter B(0), RD114/simian type D retrovirus receptor, RDR, RDRC, Sodium-dependent neutral amino acid transporter type 2, Solute carrier family 1 member 5
