    Hintergrund

Serum Amyloid A1 (SAA1) is a prominent acute-phase protein in humans, primarily produced by the liver in response to inflammation. It plays a role in the immune system, potentially aiding in tissue repair, acting as an antibacterial agent, and signaling the migration of immune cells to sites of infection. Levels of SAA1 can increase dramatically (up to 1000-fold) during inflammatory states triggered by infections, injury, or chronic diseases.
