Hintergrund: The mammalian Kruppel-like transcription factor, KLF4 is involved in preventing centrosome amplification following DNA damage caused by gamma-irradiation. It is both necessary and sufficient in preventing centrosome amplification following gamma-radiation-induced DNA damage and does so by transcriptionally suppressing cyclin E expression n. Kruppel-like factor 4 is also known to exhibit checkpoint function during the G1/S and G2/M transitions of the cell cycle.
