The data od this study suggest that Pgrn-a plays a dual role during nervous system development by governing the rate at which progenitors progress through the cell cycle and attracting microglial progenitors into the embryonic brain and retina.
Findings show that miR (zeige MYLIP ELISA Kits)-145 and GrnA expression patterns are inversely correlated during liver development and provide evidence that GrnA-dependent hepatic outgrowth is regulated by miR (zeige MYLIP ELISA Kits)-145 in zebrafish embryonic development.
the Grna and Grnb single and double knock out zebrafish lack any obvious morphological, pathological and biochemical phenotypes
GrnA positively modulates hepatic MET expression both in vivo and in vitro.
PGRN is a regulator of tumorigenesis because it stimulates cell proliferation, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, malignant transformation, resistance to anticancer drugs, and immune evasion. [review]
PGRN regulated its own expression in a positive feedback loop via the AKT (zeige AKT1 ELISA Kits) and ERK (zeige EPHB2 ELISA Kits) signaling pathways.
PGRN is involved in lysosomal homeostasis and lipid metabolism.
High serum GP88 concentrations are associated with poor prognosis in patients with DLBCL
This study showed that endogenous levels of multiple GRNs are haploinsufficient in FTD (zeige FTL ELISA Kits)-GRN patient fibroblasts and frontal cortex, mirroring full-length PGRN.
HSPA5 (GRP78 (zeige HSPA5 ELISA Kits)) and GEP were identified to interact. Clinical analysis showed that expression of GRP78 (zeige HSPA5 ELISA Kits) was up-regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma tumor and correlated with GEP expression.
the expression of PGRN was significantly upregulated in Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head patients' articular cartilage, and recombinant PGRN could promote expression of aggrecan (zeige ACAN ELISA Kits) and collagen II and the activation of ERK1/2 (zeige MAPK1/3 ELISA Kits).
White matter hyperintensities are seen only in GRN mutation carriers in fronto-temporal dementia.
The study provides solid evidence that there is the interaction between GRN A and ENO1 (zeige ENO1 ELISA Kits) and the interaction is responsible for the effects of GRN A on glucose uptake as well as cancer cell migration and invasion.
This study ascertained that PGRN expression in airway epithelial cells inhibits CS-induced apoptosis, presumably through regulation of the ER stress response and MAPK (zeige MAPK1 ELISA Kits) activation.
PGRN haploinsufficiency may decrease accumulation of Abeta (zeige APP ELISA Kits).
that mutations resulting in progranulin is processed in the lysosome through the actions of cathepsins
Results from conditional progranulin-knockout mice that lack progranulin in nestin (zeige NES ELISA Kits)-expressing cells (Nes (zeige NES ELISA Kits)-cKO mice), which include most neurons as well as astrocytes, suggest that increased lipofuscinosis and gliosis in Grn-null animals are not caused by intrinsic progranulin deficiency in neurons, and that microglia-derived progranulin may be sufficient to maintain neuronal health and homeostasis in the brain.
PGRN deficiency exacerbates neuroinflammatory responses related to activated microglia in aged animals, while PGRN may not counteract the decline of hippocampal neurogenesis with age.
findings suggest that PGRN deficiency leads to excessive NF-kappaB (zeige NFKB1 ELISA Kits) activation in microglia and elevated TNFalpha (zeige TNF ELISA Kits) signaling, which in turn lead to hyperexcitability of medium spiny neurons and obsessive-compulsive behavior-like behavior.
PGRN plays a protecting role in hippocampal neurogenesis.
This study demonstrated that Progranulin overexpression in sensory neurons attenuates neuropathic pain in mice.
The results of this study show that endogenous and recombinant PGRN limit axonal injury and astrogliosis and suggest therapeutic potential of PGRN in traumatic brain injury.
ADAM15 (zeige ADAM15 ELISA Kits) and acrogranin are present on and associated with the surface of guinea pig spermatozoa; besides both proteins may play a role during sperm-egg binding.
Granulins are a family of secreted, glycosylated peptides that are cleaved from a single precursor protein with 7.5 repeats of a highly conserved 12-cysteine granulin/epithelin motif. The 88 kDa precursor protein, progranulin, is also called proepithelin and PC cell-derived growth factor. Cleavage of the signal peptide produces mature granulin which can be further cleaved into a variety of active, 6 kDa peptides. These smaller cleavage products are named granulin A, granulin B, granulin C, etc. Epithelins 1 and 2 are synonymous with granulins A and B, respectively. Both the peptides and intact granulin protein regulate cell growth. However, different members of the granulin protein family may act as inhibitors, stimulators, or have dual actions on cell growth. Granulin family members are important in normal development, wound healing, and tumorigenesis.
