- Hintergrund

Glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels are used as an indicator of blood glucose in diabetic patients. It is formed by the conjugation of a hexose sugar to the beta-chain of haemoglobin A. HbA1C builds up in red blood cells throughout their lifetime and its levels therefore represent a record of blood glucose levels over the previous 8 weeks or so. The subunit has mol wt of 18 kDa.
Description: Human erethrocytes.
