Protein Background: DNA N6-methyladenosine (6mA) is a novel epigenetic signaling modification in humans and has been implicated in the progression and tumorigenesis of several cancers. However, the function and mechanism of 6mA in breast cancer (BC), the most common cancer among women are unclear.N6AMT1(N-6 adenine-specific DNA methyltransferase 1) encodes an N(6)-adenine-specific DNA methyltransferase. The encoded enzyme may be involved in the methylation of release factor I during translation termination. This enzyme is also involved in converting the arsenic metabolite monomethylarsonous acid to the less toxic dimethylarsonic acid. Alternative splicing pf this gene results in multiple transcript variants.
