We recommend adding a carrier protein such as HSA or BSA to 0.1% (i.e. 1.0 mg/mL). For best results aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or colder. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge vial before each opening to dislodge contents from the cap and to clarify if contents are not clear after standing at room temperature.

Background: Interleukin 16 (IL-16) is produced primarily by CD4+ and CD8+ T cells and acts as a chemo-attractant for lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, dendritic cells and Langerhans cells. Additionally, IL-16 has been reported to upregulate IL-2 receptor (CD25), induce progression of cells to the G1 phase and suppress HIV & SIV replication. Recombinant human IL-16 is a non-glycosylated protein, containing130 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 13.5 kDa.
