    • ALiCE®, our Almost Living Cell-Free Expression System is based on a lysate obtained from Nicotiana tabacum c.v.. This contains all the protein expression machinery needed to produce even the most difficult-to-express proteins, including those that require post-translational modifications.
    • During lysate production, the cell wall and other cellular components that are not required for protein production are removed, leaving only the protein production machinery and the mitochondria to drive the reaction. During our lysate completion steps, the additional components needed for protein production (amino acids, cofactors, etc.) are added to produce something that functions like a cell, but without the constraints of a living system - all that's needed is the DNA that codes for the desired protein!

    Concentration:
    • The concentration of our recombinant proteins is measured using the absorbance at 280nm.
    • The protein's absorbance will be measured against its specific reference buffer.
    • We use the Expasy's ProtParam tool to determine the absorption coefficient of each protein.

    Long-chain fatty acid transport protein 4 (FATP-4) (Fatty acid transport protein 4) (Arachidonate--CoA ligase) (EC 6.2.1.15) (Long-chain-fatty-acid--CoA ligase) (EC 6.2.1.3) (Solute carrier family 27 member 4) (Very long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4) (ACSVL4) (EC 6.2.1.-),FUNCTION: Mediates the import of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA) into the cell by facilitating their transport across cell membranes (PubMed:10518211, PubMed:20448275). Appears to be the principal fatty acid transporter in small intestinal enterocytes (PubMed:20448275). Also functions as an acyl-CoA ligase catalyzing the ATP-dependent formation of fatty acyl-CoA using LCFA and very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) as substrates, which prevents fatty acid efflux from cells and might drive more fatty acid uptake (By similarity). Plays a role in the formation of the epidermal barrier. Required for fat absorption in early embryogenesis (PubMed:11404000, PubMed:12821645, PubMed:15653672, PubMed:15699031).
