OAT
(Ornithine Aminotransferase (OAT))
Hintergrund
OAT, also known as mitochondrial enzyme ornithine aminotransferase, is a key enzyme in the pathway that converts arginine and ornithine into the major excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters glutamate and GABA. Mutations that result in a deficiency of this enzyme cause the autosomal recessive eye disease Gyrate Atrophy. Recombinant OAT protein was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Alternative Names: OATASE protein, HOGA protein, Ornithine aminotransferase protein, Ornithine--oxo-acid aminotransferase., mitochondrial precursor protein, DKFZp781A11155 protein, ornithine aminotransferase precursor protein, ornithine aminotransferase (gyrate atrophy) protein, ornithine aminotransferase precursor EC 2.6.1.13 protein, Ornithine oxo-acid aminotransferase protein
