Naip5 Proteine
(NLR Family, Apoptosis Inhibitory Protein 5 (NAIP5))
Confers resistance to microbial infection. Participates in the antimicrobial response by sensing flagellin of Legionella or Salmonella and by stimulating CASP1 activation. This favors the fusion of bacteria-containing phagosomes with lysosomes, restricts bacterial replication and releases proinflammatory cytokines that control bacterial infection. Prevents motor-neuron apoptosis induced by a variety of signals.
