GST Antikörper

(Glutathione S Transferase (GST))
The GST tag is widely used in recombinant protein expression and purification. GST antibodies used to detect GST tags (e.g. in Western Blot) serve several purposes:
  • Protein Detection: Antibodies against GST tag are used to detect the presence of GST Fusion proteins in various samples, including cell lysates and purified protein preparations. This is commonly done through techniques like Western blotting (WB), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and immunohistochemistry (IHC) - with Western Blot being the predominant method.
  • Protein Purification: GST is often used as an affinity tag for protein purification. An antibody against GST can be used to verify the successful purification of a GST fusion protein by detecting its presence in eluted fractions.
  • Immunoprecipitation: Antibodies against GST can be used to immunoprecipitate GST Fusion proteins from complex mixtures, allowing researchers to isolate and study specific protein interactions and complexes.
  • Cellular Localization: Immunofluorescence techniques (IF) can use anti-GST antibodies to determine the subcellular localization of GST-tagged proteins within cells.
  • Enzyme Activity Assays: GST activity can be measured using enzyme activity assays, and anti-GST antibodies can be employed in these assays to detect the activity of GST-fused proteins.
  • Protein-Protein Interaction Studies: Anti-GST antibodies can be used in co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) experiments to study protein-protein interactions involving GST-fused proteins.
