Complete identification of such receptors would greatly increase the understanding of the celluar processes activated by steriods. EFP (Estrogen receptor Finger Protein) was identified as a result of its specific interaction with the estrogen receptor. EFP contains a zinc-finger domain, indicating that it is a DNA-binding protein. EFP transcription is regulated by estrogens and, in combination with the estrogen receptor, it may modulate the expression of estrogen-responsive genes. This antibody is routinely tested by western blot analysis.
