Hintergrund: Background: Ymer was identified in a mass spectrometric study of epidermal growth factor signaling. It is a cytoplasmic tyrosine-phosphorylated protein that bears multiple ubiquitin-interacting domains. Recently Ymer has been implicated as a negative regulator of the NF-kappaB signaling pathway. Mutations in the gene that encodes Ymer, CCDC50, are the cause of autosomal dominant non-syndromic sensorineural deafness type 44.
