Hintergrund: Background: CAP-D3 is a subunit of the heteropentameric condensin II complex. Condensin participates in the condensation of chromosomes during cell division by facilitating positive DNA supercoiling and knotting by topoisomerase I and II, and aids in the proper segregation of sister chromatids. In the condensin II complex CAP-D3 is regulated by protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) and may participate in centromere resolution.
