Hintergrund: ELAC1 belongs to the RNase Z family. It is a zinc phosphodiesterase, which displays some tRNA 3'-processing endonuclease activity. The protein is probably involved in tRNA maturation, by removing a 3'-trailer from precursor tRNA.
