Hintergrund: Yeast Tup 1p-Ssn6p repressor complex represents a novel paradigm for transcriptional repression and for the role of chromatin in repression. Ssn6-Tupl interacts with class I histone deacetylases required for repression, and rfecrfuitment of yeast Tuplp-Ssn6p repressor is associated with localized decreases in histone acetylation.
