Hintergrund
- AID (Activation-induced cytidine deaminase, AICDA) is a member of the cytidine and deoxycytidylate deaminase family. It acts act as a single-strand DNA deaminase involved in somatic hypermutation, gene conversion and class-switch recombination in developing B-cells and is necessary for efficient antibody responses. It has also been implicated in active DNA demethylation, as deamination of methylcytosine yields thymine, which is read as a mismatch and is replaced by DNA damage repair enzymes.
