Target Description: Synapse-Associated Protein 102, Disks large homolog 3(DLG3) or SAP102 MAGUK scaffold protein is encoded by the gene DLG3. SAP102 is a member of the MAGUK (membrane-associated guanylate kinase) protein family. SAP102 can bind to a number of adhesion molecules and receptors, including NMDA receptors and acts as a scaffold protein to mediate synaptic signaling. This protein plays a role in learning and memory and appears to be required for learning. Mutations in this gene have been associated with X-linked cognitive disability.
