Application Note: This affinity purified antibody has been tested for use in ELISA and by western blot.  Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band approximately 37 kDa in size corresponding to Swi6 protein by western blotting in the appropriate cell lysate or extract.

Hintergrund: Background: Swi6 is also known as chromatin-associated swi6 protein and repression of silent mating type loci protein.  This protein recognizes and binds to histone H3 tails that are methylated at Lys-9, leading to epigenetic repression. Swi6 is also involved in the repression of the silent mating-type loci MAT2 and MAT3 and it may be responsible for the compaction of MAT2/3 into a heterochromatin-like conformation which represses the transcription of these silent cassettes. Swi6 also interacts with the cohesion subunit psc3. Swi6 has a nuclear localization and contains 2 chromo domains.
