The antibody is specific for Cytomegalovirus glycoprotein B late neutralizing antigen. Reacts with MRC-5 infected cells but not uninfected cells. This antibody has been found to be Neutralizing.
Immunofluorescence. Reactive only in acetone fixed CMV infected cells or frozen sections. ELISA. Immunohistochemistry on frozen sections. Neutralization. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Hintergrund
Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV) glycoprotein B (gB) is an abundant virion envelope protein that has been shown to be essential for the infectivity of HCMV. HCMV gB is also one of the most immunogenic virus-encoded proteins, and a significant fraction of virus neutralizing antibodies are directed at gB. Glycoprotein B (gB) is the main antigenic protein within the envelope of HCMV. It is required for CMV mediated membrane fusion along with the gH/gL complex. The unprocessed precursor of HCMV gB is 906 amino acids in length, wit a MW of approximately 100 kDa.Synonyms: Cytomegalovirus, Glycoprotein B, HCMV, HHV5, UL55
