Autoubiquitination of TRIM26 links TBK1 to NEMO in RLR-mediated innate antiviral immune response
Down-regulation of TRIM26 is associated with worse prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
In addition to confirming one of the top findings in the meta-analysis, TRIM26, RNF5 and HLA-DRB3 have been identified as potential candidate genes for schizophrenia.
The study reports no associations between polymorphisms in TRIM26 and the risk of aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease in both logistic and regression analyses.
Our findings delineate a novel mechanism for the termination of IRF3 activation in nucleus through TRIM26-mediated IRF3 ubiquitination and degradation.
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The protein localizes to cytoplasmic bodies. Although the function of the protein is unknown, the RING domain suggests that the protein may have DNA-binding activity. The gene localizes to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I region on chromosome 6. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
