Beschreibung Human SET was originally identified as part of the SET-CAN fusion gene produced by asomatic translocation event in a patient with acute undifferentiated leukemia. Indeveloping kidney, SET is highly expressed in the zone of nephron morphogenesis. SEThas been shown to be a potent and specific inhibitor of protein phosphatase 2A, a familyof major serine/threonine phosphatases involved in regulating cell proliferation anddifferentiation. SET is also involved in the regulation of renal cell proliferation andtumorigenesis. SET mRNA expression is markedly reduced in cells rendered quiescent byserum starvation, contact inhibition, or differentiation. SET protein expression is also muchgreater in developing rat and human kidney than in fully differentiated, mature kidney. High levels of SET mRNA and SET protein expression arefound in Wilms' tumor, but not inrenal cell carcinoma, adult polycystic kidney disease or in transitional cell carcinoma.
Spezifität This antibody detects I2PP2A / SET, widely expressed. Low levels in quiescent cells duringserum starvation, contact inhibition or differentiation. Highly expressed in Wilms' tumor. Species: Human. Others not tested.

Anwendungen

Applikationshinweise Western blot (1: 400 dilution). Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
