- Hintergrund
- A membrane-anchored glycoprotein, RECK is encoded by a RECK gene (reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs) identified as a transformation suppressor gene. This 110 kDa protein consists of 971a.a. The protein contains protease inhibitor like domains such as the Kazal motif, and epidermal growth factor (EGF) like repeats. Takahashi et al. reported that restoration pf RECK expression in malignant cells resulted in suppression of invasive activity with a concomitant decrease in the secretion of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), a key enzyme involved in tumor invasion and metastasis.Synonyms: Reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs, Suppressor of tumorigenicity 15 protein
