Data suggest that kinetics of degradation/proteolysis versus of aggregation of amyloid beta(1-40) and amyloid beta(1-42) at specific concentrations of amyloid beta, cathepsin B (zeige CTSB Antikörper), and cystatin C can be modeled and predicted.
Serum CysC, at the time of CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy cessation), is an independent predictor of the successful weaning from CRRT in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury.
The serum levels of cystatin C and urine NGAL (zeige LCN2 Antikörper), urine OPN (zeige SPP1 Antikörper) can be used as a good marker for assessing the renal effect of obesity which can lead end stage renal disease in pediatric population.
The average of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFRave) based on creatinine (eGFRcre) and eGFR based on cystatin C (eGFRcys) best predicted the exacerbation of renal function in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT).
Studied serum Cystatin C as a biomarker in bladder urothelial neoplasm; results found serum Cystatin C not to be a reliable marker in predicting bladder urothelial tumors tumorigenesis and clinicopathological characteristics.
bladder cancer (BCa (zeige BLNK Antikörper)) patients have lower serum cysC concentration than the control group. Serum cysC may be considered as a potential marker of BCa (zeige BLNK Antikörper) but not its aggressiveness.
Postoperative serum Cystatin C, IL-18 (zeige IL18 Antikörper) and Uric acid after 24h were significantly associated with acute kidney injury
Serum CysC is a strong predictor of AKI and the short-term prognosis of CCU patients.
Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (zeige LCN2 Antikörper) concentrations in the urine and serum on the second day of intensive care unit admission could be used to predict the development of acute kidney injury in the following three to seven days in the intensive care unit; however, the cystatin C concentration did not have predictive value
Study demonstrated that the binding of CST3 and PSAP (zeige PSAP Antikörper) decreased the inhibitory effects of CST3 on proteinase in vitro. The co-localization of both proteins was detected in cultured cells and in Bunina body-containing motor neurons from patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, suggesting that they might be involved in the process of Bunina body formation.
CysC plays an important regulatory role in combating cell death via the autophagic pathway in atherosclerosis.
Data (including data from studies in mutant mice) suggest that up-regulation of Cst3, as observed in plasma of mice with type 2 diabetes, down-regulates insulin (zeige INS Antikörper) signaling and promotes endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocytes but not in myotubes.
Cystatin C is a potential pathogenic signal triggering neurodegeneration in multiple system atrophy.
The neuroprotective activity of CysC against Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-linked mutant Cu/Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD1 (zeige SOD1 Antikörper))-mediated toxicity.
an important role for macrophages, DC, and ROS (zeige ROS1 Antikörper) in diseases associated with the protease inhibitory activity or amyloidogenic properties of cystatin C.
APP (zeige APP Antikörper) expression stimulates NSPC proliferation; this effect is mediated via an increase in cystatin C secretion
Cystatin C, a protein targeted to the classical secretory pathway by its signal peptide sequence, is secreted by primary neurons in at least 9 different cystatin C glycoforms associated with exosomes.
The lack of cystatin C enhances Collagen-induced arthritis and primarily affects in vivo priming of the immune system
Inflammation causes downregulation of cystatin C expression in dendritic cells and reduces serum CstC levels.
Data show that the absence of cystatin C reduced epithelial cell apoptosis but increased proliferation in skin.
CST3 may be required to remodel endometrial and placental tissues for close apposition between maternal and fetal vasculatures and to facilitate transplacental transport of gases, micronutrients (amino acids, glucose), and macromolecules (proteins).
Increased production of cystatin C in osteoarthritis synovium does not alleviate synovitis or cartilage pathology.
Cystatin C in milk basic protein (MBP (zeige MBP Antikörper)) is suggested as one of the factors inhibiting bone resorption
The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins that contain multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some of the members are active cysteine protease inhibitors, while others have lost or perhaps never acquired this inhibitory activity. There are three inhibitory families in the superfamily, including the type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins and the kininogens. The type 2 cystatin proteins are a class of cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in a variety of human fluids and secretions, where they appear to provide protective functions. The cystatin locus on chromosome 20 contains the majority of the type 2 cystatin genes and pseudogenes. This gene is located in the cystatin locus and encodes the most abundant extracellular inhibitor of cysteine proteases, which is found in high concentrations in biological fluids and is expressed in virtually all organs of the body. A mutation in this gene has been associated with amyloid angiopathy. Expression of this protein in vascular wall smooth muscle cells is severely reduced in both atherosclerotic and aneurysmal aortic lesions, establishing its role in vascular disease.
