Hintergrund: VPS24, also known as Charged multivesicular body protein 3 (CHMP3), belongs to the vacuolar sorting protein family and function as chromatin modifying proteins. It associates directly with CHMP2 and CHMP4 for the disassembly of ESCRT-III complex in an ATP-dependent manner. During HIV-1 infection, the virus uses the ESCRT-III complex to mediate budding and exocytosis of viral proteins. Overexpression of VPS24 strongly inhibits HIV-1 release. Recombinant human VPS24 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.
