Immunohistochemistry (Frozen Sections) (IHC (fro)), Western Blotting (WB)
This Monoclonal antibody reacts specifically with Butyrophilin, a 67 kDa polypeptide, present in the apical membrane of lactating mammary epithelium and in MFGM. No cross reaction with other MFGM proteins. The epitope has been localized on the N-terminal extracellular part of the protein, close to the transmembrane region. Reacts with transfected cell line BMGE with Butyrophilin cDNA.
Species reactivity (tested):Human, Bovine.
Butyrophilin purified from Bovine milk fat globule membrane.
Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections. Immunoblotting. Positive control: Milk fat globule membrane (MFGM). Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

BTN1A1 (Butyrophilin) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, BTN/MOG family. It is the major protein associated with fat droplets in the milk. It may act as a specific membrane-associated receptor for the association of cytoplasmic droplets with the apical plasma membrane.Synonyms: BTN, Butyrophilin subfamily 1 member A1
