  1. CSF (zeige CSF2 Proteine) calbindin concentration is a sensitive biomarker of NPC1 (zeige NPC1 Proteine) disease

  2. We identified a significant association between the A allele of rs1805874 and the risk of Parkinson's disease (OR 1.257, 95% CI 1.036-1.524, p = 0.020). Our findings suggest that the A allele of rs1805874 is associated with risk of Parkinson's disease among the Han Chinese. Our results, combined with previous studies, suggest that rs1805874 is associated with Parkinson's disease in East Asians, but not Caucasians.

  3. Increased number of calbindin neurons and fiber labeling both in focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) and non-FCD specimens compared with postmortem controls may be associated with ongoing seizure activity.

  4. The calbindin-D 28k was decreased in the putamen, the dorsal tier of the substantia nigra along the lower border of the red nucleus, and in the cerebellar cortex in multiple system atrophy.

  5. Significantly reduced hippocampal calbindin D28K levels are found in all patients with mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis and stroke-like syndrome (MELAS).

  6. Data show calbindin (CB)- and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH (zeige TH Proteine))-cells were distributed in the three striatal territories, and the density of calretinin (CR (zeige CALB2 Proteine)) and parvalbumin (PV (zeige PVALB Proteine)) interneurons were more abundant in the associative and sensorimotor striatum.

CALB1 Protein Überblick

Protein Überblick

Calbindin is a calcium-binding protein belonging to the troponin C superfamily. It was originally described as a 27-kD protein induced by vitamin D in the duodenum of the chick. In the brain, its synthesis is independent of vitamin-D-derived hormones. Calbindin contains 4 active calcium-binding domains, and 2 modified domains that presumably have lost their calcium-binding capacity. The neurons in brains of patients with Huntington disease are calbindin-depleted.
