Hintergrund

Hitzeschockproteine (HSP) erleichtern oder beschleunigen den Faltungsprozess eine synthetisierten Proteins, indem sie Aggregationen und fehlerbehaftete Bindungen verhindern. Die Einteilung der HSP erfolgt anhand ihres Molekulargewichtes. Hsp 60 stellt eine der wichtigsten Komponenten im Chaperonsystems des tierischen Organismus dar. Hsp 70 hingegen unterstützt eher die Aufrechterhaltung des ungefalteten Zustands eines Zielproteins. Die Chaperone der Hsp 90 – Familie sind ubiquitär in Prokaryoten und in Eukaryoten verbreitet und halten anscheinend die letzten Schritte der Proteinfaltung auf.

Hitzeschockproteine sind überall im Organismus vorhanden und werden in Stresssituationen, etwa bei starken Temperatureinflüssen, UV-Bestrahlung oder Ethanoleinfluss verstärkt exprimiert. Viele Hitzeschockproteine gehören zu den Chaperonen, welche auch unter normalen Bedingungen eine wesentliche Rolle beim Transport, der Translokation und bei Faltung und Zusammenbau der Proteine spielen.
