| Beschreibung | Long-chain-fatty-acid--CoA ligase 1, or ACSL1, is an isozyme of the long-chainfatty-acid-coenzyme A ligase family. All isozymes of this family convert free long-chainfatty acids into fatty acyl-CoA esters, and thereby play a key role in lipid biosynthesisand fatty acid degradation. It has also been proposed that altered expression of ACSL1may have implications for the accumulation of triglycerides in the liver and thesubsequent metabolic problems associated with the increased lipid deposition (1). |
