Beschreibung: Myelin is an electrically-insulating dielectric phospholipid layer that surrounds the axons of many neurons. It is an outgrowth glial cell: Schwann cells supply the myelin for peripheral neurons, whereas oligodendrocytes supply it to those of the central nervous system. Myelin is considered a defining characteristic of the (gnathostome) vertebrates, but it has also arisen by parallel evolution in some invertebrates. Myelin made by different cell types varies in chemical composition and configuration, but performs the same insulating function. Myelinated axons are white in appearance. Myelin is composed of about 80% lipid fat and about 20% protein. Some of the proteins that make up myelin are Myelin basic protein (MBP), Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG), and Proteolipid protein (PLP).

Spezifität: Mouse Anti-CNS Myelin/Oligodendrocytes (Clone HPC-7) recognizes Oligodendrocytes and myelin in the CNS. HPC-7 appears to recognize a cell surface protein of the oligodendrocyte lineage that marks the important transition from proliferative precursor to postmitotic oligodendrocyte.

Buffer: This purified antibody is formulated in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl, 1% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide as a preservative.

Lagerung: This antibody is stable for at least one week when stored at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at 20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
