Beschreibung: Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, or 5-HT) is a monoamine neurotransmitter synthesised inserotonergic neurons in the central nervous system and enterochromaffin cells in thegastrointestinal tract. Serotonin plays an important part in the biochemistry of depression,migraine, bipolar disorder and anxiety. It is also believed to be influential on sexuality andappetite. 5-HT is generally thought not to be released from synaptic terminal buttons in themanner of classical neurotransmission but from serotonergic varacosities into the extraneuronal space. From here it is free to diffuse over a relatively large region of space(>20µm) and activate 5-HT receptors located on the dendrites, cell bodies and presynapticterminals of adjacent neurons. Serotonergic action is terminated primarily via uptake of5-HT from the synapse. This is through the specific monoamine transporter for 5-HT, 5-HTreuptake transporter, on the presynaptic neuron. The pharmacology of 5-HT is extremelycomplex, with its actions being mediated by a large and diverse range of 5-HT receptors.

Spezifität: Serotonin is produced by endocrine cells of the stomach, duodenum and ileum. Thepolyclonal antibody to serotonin can be used to differentiate tumors of serotoninergicorigin. The antigen localization is cytoplasmic. Absorption with 10-100 µg serotonin per mldiluted antiserum abolishes the staining. Species: Human, Rat, Mouse. Others not tested.

Anwendungen

Applikationshinweise: Immunofluorescence. Immunohistochemistry on frozen and paraffin sections, 1/200 - 1/400. Positive Control: DuodenumOther applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Buffer: 0.1M PBS with 1% BSA and 0.09% NaN3Reconstitution: Restore in 50-100µl distilled water

Lagerung: Prior to reconstitution store at 2-8°C. Following reconstitution store the antibody at -20°C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch.
