Beschreibung Bcl-2 is an integral membrane protein located in the membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), nuclear envelope, and in the outer membranes of the mitochondria. It suppresses apoptosis in a variety of cell systems including factor-dependent lymphohematopoietic and neural cells. Bcl-2 regulates cell death by controlling the mitochondrial membrane permeability.
