Immunogen: Reference E. coli strain CVL Moon 987P 0:9K103:non haem was grown on slanetz agar in roux flasks. Cells were harvested in phosphate buffer and the fimbrae were detached from the bacteria by heat shock. The fimbrae were purified by centrifugation followed by ammonium sulphate precipitation. The minimal antigen was determined by indirect ELISA using monoclonal antibody specific for 987P (IM16).
