| Beschreibung | GPR68 (also known as OGR1: ovarian cancer G protein-coupled receptor 1) is a member of G protein-coupled receptor and was initially cloned from the ovarian cancer cell line. ORG1 is expressed in several tissues, including spleen, testis, small intestine, peripheral blood leukocytes, brain, heart, lung, placenta, and kidney, but not detectable in ovary. GPR68 is one of the proton-sensing GPCR that is a receptor for sphingosylphosphorylcholine (SPC) and lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). In cells expressing GPR68, extracellular acidic pH induced the stimulation of inositol phosphate production and cAMP accumulation. It has also been shown that GPR68 is expressed early during osteoclastogenesis and may play a role in osteoclast differentiation. |
