Beschreibung: SST2 is a Somatostatin receptor. Somatostatin negatively regulates the growth ofvarious normal and tumour cells via five somatostatin receptors. Somatostatin receptorsare expressed by a large variety of human tumors, and the predominant expression ofSST2 receptors in tumor tissues forms the basis for the successful application ofSST2-preferring agonists in the treatment of patients with GH-secreting pituitaryadenomas, as well as in patients with carcinoid or islet cell tumors. The SST2 receptorexists as two splice variants that differ in length and composition of their intracellularcarboxy termini. SST2 is the only member of the somatostatin receptor family thatcontains introns. SST2 expression has been reported in adrenal, aorta, brain, breast,eye, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, prostate, spinal cord, and thyroid. ESTs have beenisolated from brain, eye, head/neck, kidney, lymph node, pineal, and prostate libraries. Alternate Names: anti-SSTR2 antibody, anti-Somatostatin Receptor 2 antibody.
