Beschreibung: The genus Salmonella is a member of the family Enterobacteriaceae. The genus iscomposed of Gram negative bacilli that are facultative and flagellated (motile).Salmonellae possess 3 major surface antigens, the H or flagellar antigen (phase 1 and2), the O or somatic antigen (part of the LPS moiety) and the Vi or capsular antigen(referred to as K in other Enterobacteriaceae). Salmonellae also possess the LPSendotoxin characteristic of Gram negative bacteria. This LPS is composed of an Opolysaccharide (O antigen) an R core and the endotoxic inner Lipid A. Endotoxins evokefever and can activate complement, kinin and clotting factors.

Spezifität: This antibody is specific for groups A,B, and D (Salmonella paratyphi,Salmonella typhimurium, and Salmonella enteriditis) 0-12antigen. Binding constants (Ka, Me-1) of ABIN268241 LPS by the Beatty (et al)method:LPS A = 2.1x109LPS B = 1.1x109LPS D = 6.5x108LPS E = 1x106. Species Reactivity: This antibody detects Salmonella enteriditis D, paratyphi A and typhimuriumB. It has slight reactivity with Salmonella anatum and Selandia. It does notreact with other Salmonella, E. coli, or Klebsiella.
