Beschreibung: Papain is a protease derived from the papaya fruit (Carica papaya). It hydrolysespeptides with broad specificity, but shows a preference for large hydrophobic aminoacids in the P2 position. It is synthesised as an inactive 40 kDa precursor containing a107 residue N terminal pro region and a 26 residue signal peptide. Alternate Names: anti-Allergen Car p 1 antibody, anti-Papaya proteinase I antibody, anti-PPI antibody.

Spezifität: Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against purified andpartially purified papain (Carica papaya). Species Reactivity: Plant.
