Serotonin-positive cells are present in gastric, duodenal, jejunal, ileal, colonic, andappendiceal mucosae. Positive cells are sparse and usually occur in the lower half ofthe gastric and intestinal mucosae. In the appendix, in addition to the mucosalserotonin-containing cells, there are single or small clusters of serotonin-positive cells inthe sub-epithelial region of the lamina propria. Alternate Names: anti-5 HT 5A antibody, anti-5 HT antibody, anti-5 HT5A antibody, anti-5hydroxytryptamine antibody, anti-5HT antibody.

ABIN266470 may be a useful tool for characterization of carcinoids. In a study of 48cases of adenomas and carcinoid tumours of the middle ear, the antibody labelledtumour cells in 12 cases (25%). In 1 case of carcinoid tumour of the middle ear, theantibody labelled tumour cells. In a study of 43 cases of bronchial carcinoid tumours, theantibody labelled tumour cells in 13 cases (30%). Cells labelled by the antibody displaya cytoplasmic staining pattern. Species Reactivity: Cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and Guinea pig. Not yet tested in other species. Localization: Cytoplasmic.
