Beschreibung: Integrin alpha 4 (also called CD49d) is a 150 kDa protein that possesses a largeextracellular domain involved in ligand binding, a single transmembrane domain, and anintracellular regulatory domain possessing multiple sites for phosphorylation. Integrinalpha 4 forms heterodimers with integrins beta 1 and beta 7. Integrin alpha 4 isexpressed on leukocytes and leukocyte precursors, neural crest cells, and developingskeletal muscles and is essential for embryogenesis, hematopoiesis, and immuneresponses. The presence of integrin alpha 4 promotes cell migration and inhibits cellspreading and contractility. Integrin alpha 4 function has been implicated in thepathogenesis of multiple diseases including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn'sdisease, ulcerative colitis, hepatitis C, and multiple sclerosis, and therefore, modulationof integrin alpha 4 function has become an important target for drug discovery. Spezifität: Recognizes murine alpha 4 integrin (CD49d), a 150kD glycoprotein that can associatewith either beta 1 integrin (CD29) or beta 7 integrin to form heterodimers CD49d/CD29(VLA-4) and alpha4/beta7 (LPAM-1) respectively. CD49d is expressed on mostlymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes and thymocytes. The primary ligands for CD49dare CD106 (VCAM-1), fibronectin and MAdCAM-1. Clone 9C10 (MFR4.B) is reported to significantly inhibit binding of CD49d to CD106 butonly when used in combination with clone R1-2 (1). Species Reactivity: Cross reacts with Mouse.
