Beschreibung
|
Ascorbate Oxidase is a copper-containing enzyme. It catalyzes the following reaction:Ascorbic acid + O2 -----> Dehydroascorbic acid + H2O. Ascorbate Oxidase is widelydistributed and is only present in plants. Its biological role in plants is still not clear.Studies after increasing and reducing the enzyme activity suggest that it has a positiveeffect on plant growth. In addition, it has been proposed that the enzyme may beinvolved in plant defense by modifying the ascorbate level and thus redox state inapoplast. Alternate Names: anti-Ascorbase antibody, anti-ASO antibody, anti-L ascorbate oxidase precursorantibody.
