Beschreibung Capsaicin, the main pungent ingredient in hot chili peppers, elicits a sensation ofburning pain by selectively activating sensory neurons that convey information aboutnoxious stimuli to the central nervous system. The protein encoded by this gene is areceptor for capsaicin and is a non-selective cation channel that is structurally related tomembers of the TRP family of ion channels. This receptor is also activated by increasesin temperature in the noxious range, suggesting that it functions as a transducer ofpainful thermal stimuli in vivo. Four transcript variants encoding the same protein, butwith different 5' UTR sequence, have been described for this gene. Alternate Names: anti-capsaicin receptor antibody, anti-DKFZp434K0220 antibody, anti-osm 9 like TRPchannel 1 antibody, anti-OTRPC1 antibody, anti-TRPV1 antibody, anti-Vanilloid receptorsubtype 1 antibody, anti-VR1 antibody.
Spezifität Species Reactivity: Cross-reacts with Mouse, Rat and Non Human Primates. Not yet tested in otherspecies. Localization: Plasma membrane.
