Immunogen Bacterially expressed recombinant human beta-catenin.
Beschreibung β-catenin is a multifunctional protein involved both in cell adhesion and in activation oftranscription. Calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion transmembrane glycoproteinE-cadherin interacts by its cytoplasmic domain with reciprocally bound α, β and γ catenin. β-catenin links this complex through α-actinin to the cytoskeleton. Functionalcadherin-catenin system is important for invasiveness of tumour cells. β-catenin level incytoplasm is controlled by glycogen synthase kinase-3 β. When activity of this kinase isblocked (e. g. by excessive stimulation of Wnt signaling pathway), hypophosphorylatedstable form of β-catenin accumulates in the cytoplasm, translocates to the nucleus andactivates transcription of genes including those that are involved in cell cycle control. As aresult, cell division and neoplastic transformation are promoted.

Applikationshinweise Immunoprecipitation: DLD-1 human colon adenocarcinoma cell line used for positivecontrol. Western blot (Reducing conditions). Immunocytochemistry (1 μg/ml): acetone/methanol fixation. Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections: 1 μg/ml. Staining technique: acetone /methanol fixation. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Buffer PBS, pH 7.4 with 15 mM sodium azide as preservative
Lagerung Store the antibody at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch.
