Beschreibung In cardiac tissue brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is synthesized as 134 amino acid precursor(prepro-BNP), which is cleaved by proteases to form a 26 aa signal peptide and a 108 aapro-BNP. Proteolytic digestion of pro-BNP results in formation of 76 aa amino-terminalNT-proBNP and biologically active 32 aa BNP hormone molecule. Both proBNP andNTproBNP circulate in human plasma and have been proposed as markers for earlydiagnosis of left ventricular dysfunction as well as prognostic markers of possible cardiaccomplications at patients with heart failure.
Spezifität This antibody detects synthetic human pro-BNP (aa 32-57). There were no cross reactivitiesobtained with human pro-BNP(aa 8-29). Species: Human. Others not tested. Add. Information: Reference no. : LocusID 4878
