Beschreibung Toc159 is located in the outer chloroplast membrane and part of of the Toc/TOC(translocon of the outer envelope membrane of chloroplasts) complex. It mediatesthe GTP-dependent initial stages of preprotein import into chloroplasts. InArabidopsis thaliana, Toc159 is encoded by a small gene family: atTOC159,atTOC132, atTOC120, and atTOC90. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that atleast two distinct Toc159 subtypes, characterized by atToc159 andatToc132/atToc120, exist in plants.
Spezifität Predicted reactivity: dicots, Oryza sativa. Not reactive in: Arabidopsis thaliana.
