Beschreibung: Myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG), a membrane glycoprotein of 100 kDa, is thoughtto be involved in the process of myelination (1). Axonal regeneration in the adult centralnervous system (CNS) is limited by two proteins in myelin, Nogo and MAG (2). MAGhas been implicated in inhibition of nerve regeneration in the CNS. This results frominteractions between MAG and the Nogo receptor and gangliosides on the apposingaxon, which generates intracellular inhibitory signals in the neuron (3). Results alsosuggest that MAG binds to a specific receptor and initiates a signal transductioncascade to effect inhibition. These results indicate that soluble dMAG detected in vivocould contribute to the lack of regeneration in the mammalian CNS after injury (4).
